Tram and bus

Riehen is located right next to Basel and is ideally connected to public transport. The modern trams (Line 6) and buses of the Basel transport network take you quickly to Riehen Dorf and the different districts of the municipality. The Ruftaxi is a special service that is free of charge for passengers with a TNW ticket. It brings passengers straight to their doorstep in Riehen from the Habermatten and Riehen Dorf tram stops on evenings as well as Sundays and public holidays.

Rail

Riehen train station is located in the town centre and is a 10-minute walk from the Fondation Beyeler. The Regio S-Bahn train brings you straight into the centre of Riehen in 10 minutes from Basel SBB or Badischer Bahnhof train stations or over the German border to Lörrach, Weil and the Wiesental.

Car

Parking in Riehen usually requires purchasing a ticket. Parking garages are available in the town centre (open 24 hours), at Rauracher Zentrum and Zentrum Niederholz (open during operating hours). For an easy way of getting to Riehen, we recommend to hop onto one of Basel’s famous green trams (line 6) and enjoy a care-free journey.

Parking for coaches is available at Chrischonaweg 120 and at the Fondation Beyeler, Baselstrasse 101.

Bicycle

Cycling is perhaps the most enjoyable way to explore Riehen with its green spaces and sights. The municipality is also well connected with the surrounding area thanks to an excellent network of bike paths. Both Basel as well as Lörrach or Weil can be conveniently reached on beautiful cycling routes. Bicycles can be easily rented at Basel SBB train station, for example.

Airport

Riehen can also be reached quickly and easily when travelling by plane. From Mulhouse-Basel/Basel Euro Airport, it takes around 40 minutes to get to Riehen by public transport.
