Concerts and Festivals

Riehen is music. Festivals and concert series are regularly held here – from classical music and jazz to pop. In summer, the expansive historic parks provide a beautiful backdrop to open-air events. The Landgasthof-Saal hall is well known for its excellent acoustics for classical music – and not only in the region. The 14th-century village church is likewise a charming and popular concert venue.

Fairs and Markets

Stroll around, have a taste, shop, celebrate and enjoy – Riehen’s markets and fairs are always worth a visit. Local and regional products are on sale at the weekly market with its village charm. Seasonal markets deal with topics such as sustainability, while the Advent market spreads Christmas cheer. Another highlight is the annual Summer Fair organised by the Fondation Beyeler.

Events

The village character is deceptive: there is a lot going on in Riehen. This ranges from theater performances and small art events to choir meetings, weekly markets and vernissages to top-class classical concerts, festivals and open-air events. Of course, you can also quickly reach events in the city of Basel or the German and French towns just over the border from here.
