In the course of her career, the architect has found her way to interior design, product design and art direction.
Growing up in Basel, Peduzzi Riva studied interior design at the Gewerbeschule Basel and went to Milan at the end of the 1950s to attend the architecture faculty of the Polytechnic. Together with her then husband, Sandro Riva, she opened an architecture firm in Milan, where she designed apartment conversions and private houses.
Eleonore Peduzzi Riva came to design when something was missing. Her approach is to create open designs that are flexible and can be rearranged - thus emphasizing the freedom of the user. This can also be seen in the variable sofa "DS 600" (1972), which Peduzzi Riva designed together with three Swiss designers for de Sede.
As art director, Eleonore Peduzzi Riva shaped the appearance of many companies. Her Milan studio has been in existence since the 1960s, where Matylda Krzykowski drew on the archive and staged the materials scenographically in the exhibition space. The exhibition takes a contemporary look at the work of Eleonore Peduzzi Riva and thus at one of the most exciting creative minds in Riehen.
