Wenkenpark
Rare trees and shrubs, well-kept lawns and a wonderful pond: the large park at Wenkenhof is unique and worth a visit all-year-round. The park comprises multiple parts: the actual Wenkenpark is a landscaped park from the 1920s. This is where you can find the riding hall built in 1928, which houses a lovely bistro café and serves as an event venue. The park also contains the "Alter Wenken" ensemble, which goes back to the Middle Ages, and the splendid "Neuer Wenken" villa. The villa includes a baroque garden pavilion from 1736 with French gardens. And finally, the neo-baroque park extension from 1954 can be found to the south of Bettingerstrasse. The green oases can be explored on many extensive footpaths. With its magnificent combination of buildings and green space, the extraordinary park was largely shaped by the industrialist couple Fanny and Alexander Clavel, who purchased the Wenkenhof a good 100 years ago and greatly modified the surrounding landscape.
