Riehen is made for hiking and walking! Riehen is located in the lower Wiesental between Basel and the German border, set in an idyllic landscape. Numerous hiking trails invite you to explore both the local area and beyond.

Riehen is characterised by its surrounding nature and magnificent parks. With Lange Erlen, Wenkenpark, Berowergut and Sarasinpark, Riehen is embedded in a belt of nature which offers recreation, leisure activities and cultural enjoyment in many facets.

24 Stops Rehberger-Weg

The Rehberger-Weg and its 24 works of arts links 6 kilometres, two countries, two municipalities, two cultural institutions – and countless stories. It runs between Weil am Rhein and Riehen, between the Fondation Beyeler and the Vitra Campus.

Hebel hiking trail

 
Covering a length of roughly 60 km, the Hebel hiking trail is based on Hebel’s Alemannic poem “Die Wiese”. It runs on the Black Forest Association’s marked hiking trails, from the Wiese repository at Feldberg to Schifflände in Basel.....

Das Markgräfler Wiiwegli
  is the region’s first cross-border wine trail. It connects the three municipalities of Weil am Rhein, Lörrach and Riehen and can easily be covered in a comfortable two-hour hike....

The trail leads from the tram stop Riehen Grenze to the Wiese. It’s worth taking a slight off-track detour through the Stellimatten habitat. ...

Riehen – Great views

The Autäli begins behind the Drei Brunnen retirement home and past the allotment gardens. The habitat invites you to take an initial stop - whether to watch the waterfowl, ...

Riehen – Village / park

This walking route criss-crosses Riehen’s old village centre. The starting point is Bettingerstrasse tram/bus stop. The tranquillity of the Wettsteinanlage is a pleasant contrast to the main traffic axis.
Starting point: Tram 6, Bettingerstrasse, Destination: Tram 6, Riehen Dorf I also as an App available.

Length: ca 2,8 km, Duration: ca 40 Minuten I  Places: Wettsteinanlage, Mohrhalden-anlage, Sarasinpark, Fondation Beyeler, Dorfkirche Sankt Martin, Meierhof, Spiel­zeugmuseum, Dorf- und Rebbaumuseum, Wettsteinhäuser.

Riehen – Rivers and ponds

The Niederholz tram stop is the starting point for this tour in the Wiese plain. After a few hundred metres, you enter a shaded forest in Lange Erlen with a duck pond, the habitat of many waterfowl species....

The Wenkenhof is the perfect starting point for an extended walk through the forest.
